This past September marked the beginning of our newest program, and it started off with a great turnout. It took a while for the weather to feel like cross country season, but 20 kids along with a dozen parents made steady progress toward the goal of competing in the Haddon Township Turkey Trot.

Along the way, three of our members, Coach Jill, Ella, and CC joined forces to win the women’s team competition at the South Jersey Athletic Club’s Cross Country Open in Pennypacker Park. This accomplishment goes down as our club’s first official win!

Later in the season, several kids competed at the East Regional Cross Country Championships at Tyler State Park in Pennsylvania. This is a very competitive meet attended by high quality clubs from all over the Delaware Valley. In our first championship meet we competed with honor and sportsmanship, and look forward to returning again next year.

Highlights from the East Regional Meet included a 15th place finish by Emory, and a solid first competition by team leader, Ben, in the big-kid 4K race.

As we look to finish up the program in next couple of weeks, we have 25 kids and parents signed up to run the turkey trot on the Saturday after Thanksgiving! Next up, our new spring track and field program will being in mid-March.
